About The Relational Clinic

We want to give
you the care you deserve.

Meet our principal therapist Nathanial Petersen

I am a PACFA registered Gestalt Psychotherapist with over twenty years of experience in the corporate world, managing people and complex situations in high-demand environments.

I became a therapist as a result of my own lived experiences. I am proud to be the person I am today because I had the courage to seek support. Therapy offers a safe place where you can truly be yourself; to be seen and heard free of judgement. It’s an opportunity to explore who you are at your core, and how you relate to your unique life experiences and the world around you.

I have a particular interest in trauma, relationship and attachment work as well as helping people navigate the inevitable challenges of life.

I believe the restoration of choice is one of the most important things. To live authentically is to choose how you want to live. My role is to support you through that process.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out for an obligation-free, 15-minute complimentary consultation, to see if I can help you. Following our initial chat, my clients generally book between four and six sessions to start, and we assess as we go.

Everyone is different; some people have short term goals, and others prefer weekly sessions for deeper ongoing work and/or personal growth. I’m here for you, whatever you need, and I look forward to speaking with you soon.

Nate.

What is Gestalt Therapy?

Gestalt Therapy is a humanistic, holistic form of psychotherapy focusing on a person’s unique experiences, life and challenges. It gives attention to how we place meaning on things and make sense of the world around us, creating newfound self-awareness which can have a powerful impact on how we relate to others and our environment.

The basic concepts of Gestalt Therapy include the present, the importance of context, working through pain, self-awareness, and the idea that experience influences perception.

Working with both the mind and body, Gestalt Therapy offers an integrated and effective approach to processing old and underlying traumas, emotions and narratives that are impacting your life. Its aim is to restore a sense of healing by awakening a deep level of self-awareness, self-acceptance, self-regulation and lasting growth.

How will it help me?

Research suggests that Gestalt Therapy can be effective for treating a variety of conditions including anxiety, depression and low self-esteem, assisting with relationship problems as well as boosting mindfulness, self-kindness, self-awareness and an ability to cope. The Gestalt process centres on looking within, accessing the internal wisdom you already possess, without the critical judgement, negative thinking and habitual patterns that can often hold us back.

Together we will explore how you relate to yourself, to others, and to your environment. It’s an all-encompassing method of discovering your most authentic self; how you feel, think and move in the present, without being clouded by what could be or should be.

Equipped with a newfound awareness, you have the power to choose how you respond to life. This safe, gentle and empowering process to express yourself more fully, opens you up to profound personal growth and lasting change.

I invite you to join me for a confidential, complimentary 15-minute consultation to discuss your situation and discover whether I can help you.
